Melinda Cohan - Founder and President
During her successful career in interior design, Melinda witnessed how bringing subtle amounts of organization to an environment could positively impact the people inhabiting the space. “When your work environment is disorganized”, reflects Melinda, “it’s a tremendous drain of mental energy. There’s something about having clarity and control over all the loose ends that makes a person feel confident to handle situations.”
She soon learned the same effect could be achieved by organizing one’s efforts around a central purpose, identifying goals and objectives to drive a person’s daily activities. She had excelled in her ability to draw a client into meaningful conversations about their desired outcomes and coaching seemed like a natural means to use that talent. After she experienced success in her own coaching practice, it wasn't long before her desire to organize systems and methods led her to the partnership that would result in The Coaches Console.
“I spent time exploring the best methods to accomplish all the various aspects of running a successful coaching practice, and it really got easier once all of that effort started to pay off. It helped me create 18 full paying clients in only six months. I knew that if I had to perform certain administrative tasks as a coach, that other coaches were doing similar activities. I also know not everybody has those organizational skills – or enjoys using them to the same extent. I had already done much of the work, so it made sense to find a way to share it with others.”
She joined forces with Kate Steinbacher and Tom Landsberg while networking on a ski trip in Telluride.
Soon the team began exploring technology that would allow other coaches to utilize the methods they had developed, and The Coaches Console quickly moved beyond the drawing board and became reality. Judging by the phenomenal success of the system and the positive impact on its subscribers, the hard work that went into developing it has all been worthwhile.
“I love the fact that The Coaches Console lets coaches enjoy their profession more fully,” Melinda says with a satisfied smile. “It helps them focus on clients, not paperwork. Of all people, coaches realize that life is meant to be experienced. It is to be lived with purpose and on purpose. In living – truly being alive in all that we do and all that we are – this is where we make our contribution to the universe."

Kate Steinbacher, PCC - Founder and Vice President
Kate is a graduate of Coach U with over 200 hours of coach specific training and has been awarded the Professional Certified Coach designation from The International Coach Federation. Yet she came to coaching only after driving delivery trucks, running an HR department, and traveling the world as a cruise director.
“I gained my management expertise,” recalls Kate, “during 10 years as a Human Resources professional at United Parcel Service, managing a department of 10 in a district of 2200 on Long Island, NY. I discovered I could do just about anything I put my mind to including drive trucks and supervise a group of men to accomplish a task, regardless of their age, background and whether or not they liked me! And, mostly we all had fun doing it!”
Then at 30 she went through an early ‘mid-life’ crisis.
“I decided that big bucks, 70 hours a week at work and very little time for fun was not the life I was going to choose”, says Kate, shaking her head. “I quit my job, sold my house, and spent a month in Africa and two months on a cruise ship in the Pacific to try to discover my next life adventure. I have always been a person who thinks in possibility! Why can’t an ex-truck driver be a cruise director on a glamorous yacht?”
Using her HR skills, she fashioned a resume showcasing her strengths to the travel industry and landed a job with a tour company taking groups to the USSR. This blossomed into 7 years spent at sea and around the world honing her management skills as a Cruise Director aboard one of the worlds’ most prestigious sailing yachts: Sea Cloud.
“As Cruise Director and Customer Service Manager in a multi-national environment, I learned about strategic planning and managing people to accomplish goals”, recounts Kate, “as well as methods of providing and maintaining extraordinary customer service. I saw the world from a rich person’s point of view, lived what became wonderful fun memories and got paid! Not bad for a truck driver!”
Building on her travel experiences and worldwide contacts, she created and owned (for 11 years) a successful special interest travel business, ETA, Inc. which offered travelers the opportunity to be guests in the homes of Lords and Ladies, attend private musical performances and experience art collections not open to the public. Here she honed her skills in marketing, sales, finances and the fine art of collaborating with various expert partners to achieve success.
At 44, she discovered ‘interdependence’ and met a man who loves to travel, learn new things, believes as she does, that strength, vulnerability, loving, caring, pain, joy and a sense of humor is what makes life worth living.
“Tom and I have created a lifestyle that encompasses our needs, wants and values”, reflects Kate. “We each have our own businesses that we are passionate about. We take care of our health. We spend time with family and friends, traveling, diving, skiing and just plain being, and of course, sprinkled with lots of laughter!”
As you can see, Kate loves to reinvent herself, utilizing her vision of possibility, enthusiasm, and strengths, including building awareness and creating new growth and direction for others and herself.

Angee Robertson - Virtual Assistant, Office Manage and Tech Support Genius
Angee Robertson handles much of the day-to-day operations for IAS. Angee is a graduate of AssistU virtual assistance training program and president of Sheic Support.
Angee works with several clients all over the United States, including IAS. She understands her clients angst of being a small business owner because she owns her own business. Her clients refer to her as an “administrative partner” because she helps them to focus on what they love while she helps maintain the day-to-day operations.
Angee has ten years of experience in the administrative and customer service areas. She has provided support in areas such as contact management, client follow-up, on-line registration, desktop publishing, e-zine development and web site design/maintenance just to name a few. Angee understands the importance of building relationships with her clients to help them further their business and also allow her full creative expression!
Ruth Brown - Bookkeeper
Ruth helps companies be their very best by organizing and streamlining operations for greater efficiency and cost savings. With over 30 years of experience in both manual and computerized accounting procedures, she is adept at setting up books, establishing office/accounting controls, software upgrades, and implementing system conversions.
Because she works well independently, Ruth helps companies improve their operations when they most need it – when staff and resources are stretched thin and there is no time for errors or sloppy records. Not surprisingly, she is accustomed to working under intense pressure and scrutiny. She also loves what she does, making her a real asset to a growing company such as The Coaches Console.
